When a Great Light Passes the Torch
Like so many of you, I was deeply saddened to hear of the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Rarely has a Supreme Court justice inspired so many people’s respect and awe across the political spectrum.
She showed us how to disagree, argue and champion causes while staying poised, calm and listening patiently to opposing views. Throughout her life she worked tirelessly through disease and hardship. She embodied dignity.
When a great light passes, it’s time for each of us to reflect on how we can carry the torch of what that person represented.
As we move through the autumn season, when letting go is a naturally major theme, notice how personal and national losses create a calling for us to rise up.
When our days are over what legacy will we have left? May we all be as righteous as RBG.
Let’s work on being the leaving the best legacy that we can this fall as a way of thanking all of those who have inspired us to be more just, speak our truth and have our voices heard.
